NEW BUSINESS <br />A. <br />A bid opening for rehabilitation of the Lee County Government Center Parking Lot <br />(East lot), was held in December 2017. The lowest responsible bidder was Legion <br />Asphalt, Inc. bidding an amount of $56,806.30. General Services Director Russell Spivey <br />requested approval of the bid along with a 20% contingency fund in the amount of <br />$11,362.00, which equates to the project totaling $68,168.30. Commissioner Reaves <br />moved to approve the bid In the amount of $56,806.30 along with a 20% contingency fund. <br />Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Dalrymple, Knecht, Oldham, Reaves, Sharpe, Sloan <br />Nay: None <br />Absent: Dodson <br />The Chair ruled the motion had carried unanimously. <br />B. Tax Lien Advertisement for Delinouent 2017 Real Property Taxes <br />NCGS 105-369(a) requires the tax collector to report to the governing board, unpaid <br />real property taxes for the current fiscal year. The governing board must order the tax <br />collector to advertise the tax liens. The advertisement of tax liens will be published In the <br />Sanford Herald no sooner than March 12, 2018. The total amount of unpaid real property <br />taxes Including Interest as of January 25, 2018 was $2,570,631.91. Tax Administrator <br />Mary Yow, requested the Board's approval of an order to the tax collector to advertise <br />2017 delinquent real property taxes. Commissioner Relves moved to approve an order <br />directing the tax collector to advertise 2017 delinquent real property taxes. Upon a vote, <br />the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Dalrymple, Knecht, Oldham, Reaves, Sharpe, Sloan <br />Nay: None <br />Absent: Dodson <br />The Chair ruled the motion had carried unanimously. <br />D. Discussion of DOT Article Regarding the Widening of NC 42 Near Shallow Well <br />Church <br />Commissioner Reaves stated for the record that he is not opposed to the <br />Broadway project (DOT Project to Widen NC 42) except for the approximately one <br />mile stretch near Shallow Well Church, which would affect several grave sites. <br />Reaves moved to consider what it would cost for this particular segment of project <br />and to request those funds be reallocated toward rerouting Kelly Drive.
