KU 19 ME 6241 <br />The Board considered a request to pay one -half of the cost for water meter <br />installation with the City of Sanford. City Manager Leonard Barefoot told the Board that <br />the City has already installed the meters on the county water system that will be used for <br />flushing the system on a routine basis at a cost of $40,000.00. He stated that the City has <br />agreed to pay one -half of the cost of meter installation and the County is being asked to <br />pay the additional one -half cost. After some discussion, Chairman Hincks moved to <br />accept the reconnmendation of the County Manager to refer the matter to the Ad Hoc <br />Water Committee for consideration. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Hincks, Lemmond, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Stevens <br />Nay: None <br />Absent: Adams <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered a "Water Shortage Response Ordinance" and "Water <br />Conservation Measures" for the City of Sanford. City Manager Leonard Barefoot told <br />the Board that the City of Sanford is required every five years to submit a Local Water <br />Supply Plan to the North Carolina Division of Water Resources. City and County water <br />customers are included in the plan; therefore, the County must approve the Ordinance <br />along with the City of Sanford. Mr. Barefoot stated that City Counsel would be <br />considering the plan at their July 30` meeting. Commissioner Mathews moved to refer <br />the Ordinance to the Ad Hoc Water Committee for consideration. After some discussion, <br />Commissioner Matthews withdrew her motion. After further discussion, Commissioner <br />Matthews moved to approve the "Water Shortage Response Ordinance" and "Water <br />Conservation Measures" for the City of Sanford, a copy of which is attached to these <br />minutes and by this reference made a part hereof. Upon a vote, the results were as <br />follows: <br />Aye: Hincks, Lemnnond, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Stevens <br />Nay: None <br />Absent: Adams <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />There being no further business to come before the Lee County Water and Sewer <br />District No. 1, Chairman Hincks moved to adjourn the meeting.
