LEE COUNTY <br />Committed Today for a Better Tomorrow <br />JOINT MEETING BETWEEN THE LEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS, <br />SANFORD AREA GROWTH ALLIANCE (SAGA), SANFORD CITY COUNCIL, AND <br />BROADWAY TOWN COMMISSIONERS <br />McSWAIN EXTENSION EDUCATION & AGRICULTURAL CENTER <br />2420 TRAMWAY ROAD <br />SANFORD, NORTH CAROLINA 27330 <br />DECEMBER 14, 2017 <br />The joint meeting between the Lee County Board of Commissioners, Sanford Area <br />Growth Alliance (SAGA), Sanford City Council, and Broadway Town Commissioners <br />convened at 6:00 p.m. at the McSwain Extension Education & Agricultural Center, 2420 <br />Tramway Road, Sanford, North Carolina, on said date. Commissioners present for the <br />meeting were Amy M. Dalrymple, Larry "Doc" Oldham, Timothy S. Sloan, and Cameron W. <br />Sharpe. Staff in attendance included County Manager John Crumpton, Finance <br />Director/Assistant County Manager Lisa Minter, County Attorney Whitney Parrish, <br />Management Analyst Michael Silverman, Community and Governmental Relations <br />Manager Jamie Brown, and Clerk to the Board Jennifer Gamble. <br />Lee Anne Nance introduced herself as the facilitator of the meeting and provided an <br />introduction for SAGA Chair, Kim Sutton, who began the meeting with opening remarks. <br />Each member introduced themselves and stated which Board they represented. <br />Chair Dalrymple called the meeting to order for the Lee County Board of <br />Commissioners. <br />Kim Sutton, Chair of the SAGA Executive Committee, provided a historical timeline <br />on Sanford's economic development story. <br />Local organizations gave updates regarding projects and goals. Dr. Bud Marchant, <br />President of Central Carolina Community College, cited improvements to enrollment, a <br />schedule of completion of building construction projects and added that the projects are <br />expected to be completed within budget, and commended Kirk Bradley for his work with <br />Central Carolina Works as it relates to preparing students for the workforce. Dr. Marchant <br />provided a call to action to move Kelly Drive due to its threat to pedestrian safety from <br />increased traffic. He also mentioned a desire to looking in to what it will take to move <br />forward with a K-14 school system, which has already been implemented in some of the <br />surrounding counties. This program would give students a jump-start in entering a trade <br />career or preparing for college. <br />Page 113 <br />
