LEE COUNTY <br />Committed Today for a Better Tomorrow <br />SPECIAL MEETING OF THE <br />LEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />AND <br />LEE COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION <br />GORDON WICKER CONFERENCE ROOM <br />106 HILLCREST DRIVE <br />SANFORD, NORTH CAROLIONA 27330 <br />NOVEMBER 6, 2017 <br />The special meeting between the Lee County Board of Commissioners for the County of <br />Lee, State of North Carolina, and the Lee County Board of Education, convened at 6:00 p.m. in <br />the Gordon Wicker Conference Room, 106 Hillcrest Drive, Sanford, North Carolina, on said <br />date. Commissioners Present were Amy M. Dalrymple, Kevin C. Dodson, Dr. Andre Knecht, <br />Larry "Doc" Oldham, Robert T. Reives, Cameron W. Sharpe, and Timothy S. Sloan. Staff in <br />attendance included County Manager John Crumpton, Assistant County Manager/Finance <br />Director Lisa Minter, County Attorney Whitney Parrish, Community and Government Relations <br />Manager Jamie Brown, Management Analyst Michael Silverman, and Clerk to the Board <br />Jennifer Gamble. <br />Chair Dalrymple called the meeting to order on behalf of the Board of Commissioners at <br />6:00 p.m. <br />Board of Education Chairman Mark K. Akinosho called the meeting to order on behalf of <br />the Board of Education. <br />Commissioner Doc Oldham delivered the invocation. <br />The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. <br />Presentations regarding characteristics of successful STEAM schools and updated <br />information on the plans for the new W.B. Wicker School were provided. Jimmy Hite, architect <br />with Hite Associates, explained the logistics behind his design for the Wicker School. A copy of <br />the presentation is attached to these minutes and by this reference made a part hereof. The <br />school is set to open in August 2019. No action was taken. <br />Commissioner Reives moved to adjourn the meeting. Upon a vote, the results were as <br />follows: <br />Aye: Dalrymple, Dodson, Knecht, Oldham, Reives, Sharpe, Sloan <br />Nay: None <br />The Chair ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />
