He further discussed with <br />the Board a survey completed by Personnel Director Patsy Rogers, which showed that <br />some counties pay extra money for "on call" time, some give extra time off, some give a <br />combination of both, some hire additional staff to cover these "on call" times and some do <br />nothing extra for their employees. After some discussion, Commissioner Cox moved to <br />approve the recommendation of the County Manager to give employees $50 in additional <br />monetary compensation for each week they serve "on call." Commissioner Garner <br />seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Garner, Mansfield, Moretz and Paschal <br />Nay: Matthews and Reives <br />The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted by a five to two vote. <br />The Board considered an option to purchase .08 acres of land at Bragg Street <br />Academy from the Lee County Schools and a lease agreement between Broadway <br />Presbyterian Church and Lee County Schools. Commissioner Mansfield asked to abstain <br />from voting because a relative of his was involved in one of the above matters. <br />Commissioner Reives moved to allow Commissioner Mansfield to abstain from voting. <br />Commissioner Matthews seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results were as <br />follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Garner, Matthews, Moretz, Paschal and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Commissioner Matthews moved to decline the offer to purchase .08 acres of land located <br />at the Bragg Street Academy and to approve the lease agreement between Broadway <br />Presbyterian Church and Lee County Schools. Commissioner Reives seconded the <br />motion, and upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Garner, Mansfield, Matthews, Moretz, Paschal and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered a request from Dr. Marvin Joyner, President of Central <br />Carolina Community College. Dr. Joyner asked the Board to ask Representative Bobby <br />R. Hall to sponsor a companion bill for Senate Bill 1485 which would restore funds to <br />Central Carolina Community College to help support the cost of out-of-county students <br />attending the college. Commissioner Garner moved to approve the above mentioned <br />request. Commissioner Cox seconded the motion. After further discussion, <br />Commissioner Cox amended the motion so that Representative Don Davis be included <br />6 <br />
