Community Development Director Reggie Scales went <br />over changes to the current contract and answered questions from Board members. After <br />some discussion, Commissioner Garner moved to approve the revised contract as <br />presented. Commissioner Paschal seconded the motion. After further discussion, <br />Commissioner Mansfield made an amended motion for the Board of Commissioners to <br />adopt a resolution submitting to the Sanford City Council the proposition that Lee County <br />continue to contract with the City of Sanford to provide staff for planning services if the <br />City of Sanford will contract with the County to provide staff for inspection services as <br />related to the state building codes. Commissioner Cox seconded the motion, and upon a <br />vote on the amended motion, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Mansfield, Matthews, Moretz and Reives <br />Nay: Garner and Paschal <br />The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted by a five to two vote. <br />Commissioner Reives made a motion for the County Manager to contact the City <br />of Sanford and inform them should the above contract be agreed upon, the City would still <br />need to regulate the enforcement of City codes and ordinances.
