Hoyle read a resolution in support of Static Control <br />Components, Inc. which has been chosen by the North Carolina Technological <br />Development Authority, Inc. as the recipient of the 1998 Governor's Award for <br />"Entrepreneurial Company of the Year." Chairperson Matthews presented the resolution <br />to representative Skip London. <br />Commissioner Garner read and presented a resolution to Paul B. Gay for his recent <br />induction into the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame. <br />The Board considered the annual secondary road construction program for FY <br />1998-99 from the North Carolina Department of Transportation. Engineer Bill Rosser <br />introduced various Department of Transportation employees and Assistant Engineer Sara <br />Foster presented the 1998-99 construction program in Mr. Joe Clendenin's absence. After <br />some discussion, Commissioner Cox moved to approve the 1998-99 secondary road <br />construction program as presented. Commissioner Matthews seconded the motion, and <br />upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />For: Cox, Garner, Mansfield, Matthews, Moretz, Paschal and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Commissioner Garner asked to go on record in support of a 1997 request that the <br />North Carolina Department of Transportation endorse a petition for the section of US <br />Highway #1 between Sanford and Raleigh to be designated Interstate 140. <br />The Board considered amendments to the vehicle maintenance contract between <br />the City of Sanford and the County of Lee. County Manager William Cowan told the <br />Board the current contract with the City had been renegotiated with the following <br />modifications: <br />monthly minimum charge for labor will be eliminated. <br />
