024 <br />8uGK V PAGE 363 <br />service and also try and obtain grants that would fund such a position. <br />Commissioner Reives moved to approve the above recommendation. <br />Commissioner Mansfield seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results were as <br />follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Garner, Mansfield, Matthews, Paschal and Reives <br />Nay: Moretz <br />The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted by a six to one vote. <br />(5) Consider at a later time a request from Central Carolina Community <br />College for the proposed construction of a new building to house the <br />Science Department. <br />(6) Recommend the tennis courts at O.T. Sloan Park be resurfaced at a <br />cost of $75,000, with a $15,000 donation from the Rotary Club. The <br />final cost to the County would be $60,000. <br />(7) Requested that any department that budgeted for a new printer solicit <br />bids for less expensive printers. Also requested that all departments <br />come before the Board for approval before purchasing such items. <br />Cooperative Extension Director John Hall was questioned as to why his department <br />needed such an expensive printer. Mr. Hall gave an explanation and answered questions <br />from various Board members. <br />(8) Recommend that the Lee County Arts Council receive $3,000 instead <br />$1,500. <br />(9) Recommend the Temple Theater receive $12,000. <br />Commissioner Reives moved to approve the recommendations for items 5 through 9 as <br />stated above. Commissioner Cox seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results were <br />as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Garner, Mansfield, Matthews, Moretz, Paschal and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Commissioner Garner moved to approve the Budget Ordinance and Tax Levy for <br />FY 1998-99, as amended, a copy of which is attached to these minutes and by this <br />reference made a part hereof. Commissioner Cox seconded the motion, and upon a vote, <br />the results were as follows: <br />4 <br />
