BGGK 17 PAGE 36 0 2 3 <br />The Board considered the Budget Ordinance and Tax Levy for FY 1998-99. <br />Finance Committee Chairman Robert Reives went over the following items approved by <br />the Finance Committee: <br />(1) A 2% cost of living for all County employees, increase the 401(k) <br />contribution by 1% for a total of 3%; place a statement in the budget <br />ordinance to show that all employees below a step five receive <br />an automatic one step increase on their anniversary if they have performed <br />satisfactorily; an automatic one step increase for employees at step five <br />or above. <br />Commissioner Garner moved approval of these items. Commissioner Moretz seconded <br />the motion, and upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Garner, Mansfield, Matthews, Moretz, Paschal and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />(2) Tax Office to promote public educational services for all citizens <br />concerning their personal and business audits, and for the department <br />to fax information whenever possible to save on postage. <br />(3) Do not purchase any new County vehicles at this time. Appoint <br />a committee to come up with a policy for the replacement of County <br />vehicles. Any department requesting the purchase of new vehicles <br />must come before the Board for approval before purchasing and have all <br />pertinent information available at that time. <br />Chairperson Matthews appointed a committee of herself, Commissioner Reives and Public <br />Works Director Kenny Cole to develop a vehicle replacement policy. <br />Commissioner Cox moved to accept the recommendation of the Finance Committee and <br />the committee appointed by Chairperson Matthews. Commissioner Moretz seconded the <br />motion, and upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Garner, Mansfield, Matthews, Moretz, Paschal and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />(4) Deny the request from the Health Department for a Community Service <br />Coordinator who would write grants for the health department.
