PAGE 360 <br />MINUTES OF THE RECESSED MEETING <br />OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR <br />THE COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br />J <br />JUNE 22, 1998 <br />The recessed meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County of Lee, State <br />of North Carolina, convened at 5:00 p.m. in the Commissioners' Room, 106 Hillcrest <br />Drive, Sanford, North Carolina. Commissioners present were Jimmie M. Cox, F. Hubert <br />Garner, T. Ervin Mansfield, Bertha L. Matthews, J. Douglas Moretz, Nathan E. Paschal <br />and Robert T. Reives. <br />Chairperson Matthews presided and the following business was transacted. <br />Rev. Bob Yandle, Minister of Glendon Independent Christian Church delivered the <br />invocation. <br />The Board considered additional agenda items. Commissioner Garner asked the <br />Board to consider along with the consent agenda items listed, a letter of support for Lt. <br />Governor Dennis Wicker's proposal to grant free tuition to high school students who <br />enroll at a community college immediately after graduation. Commissioner Garner moved <br />to add the above item to the consent agenda. Commissioner Reives seconded the motion, <br />and upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Garner, Mansfield, Matthews, Moretz, Paschal and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Commissioner Garner moved to approve the consent agenda, which consisted of <br />the following items: <br />• grant award for Boys & Girls Club from Department of Crime Control and <br />Public Safety <br />• budget amendment # 06/22/98/28-A (copy attached) <br />• permit for use of pyrotechnics in connection with the annual 4`h of July <br />fire works at Riverbirch Shopping Center <br />• grant award for HAVEN in Lee County from Department of Crime Control <br />and Public Safety <br />021 <br />
