007 <br />BOOK 17 PACF 418 <br />Aye: Garner, Mansfield, Matthews, Moretz and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered the 1999-2000 Community Development Block Grant <br />application and the scheduling of a public hearing. Community Development Planner <br />Karen Jones asked the Board to consider the FY 1999-2000 Small Cities CDBG Program <br />and schedule a public hearing to invite citizens to have input on community development <br />needs. Commissioner Garner moved to approve the grant application and schedule a <br />public hearing for August 10, 1998 at 7:00 p.m. Commissioner Moretz seconded the <br />motion, and upon a vote, the results were as follows. <br />Aye: Garner, Mansfield, Matthews, Moretz and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered a request from the Lee County Bar Association to make <br />renovations in Courtroom One by removing the jury chairs. Public Works Director Kenny <br />Cole presented to the Board two different options and cost analysis for consideration. <br />After some discussion, Commissioner Moretz moved to approve option number two, <br />which totaled approximately $7,836.00. Commissioner Garner seconded the motion, and <br />upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Garner, Mansfield, Matthews and Moretz <br />Nay: Reives <br />The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted by a four to one vote. <br />The Board considered the placement of approximately 197 new street signs that <br />will be needed due to the E-911 re-addressing project. Public Works Director Kenny Cole <br />told the Board he had received bids from the following vendors: <br />Welch Sign Company $21,627.81 <br />Mount Airy, NC <br />Correction Enterprises $20,666.64 <br />Raleigh, NC <br />After some discussion, Chairperson Matthews moved to award the bid to Correction <br />Enterprises and hire a temporary part-time employee to install the signs.
