® BOOK V PAGF 433.0 <br />Of <br />Oldham & Oldham $28,300 <br />Sanford Contracting $39,850 <br />After much discussion, Commissioner Reives moved the project be rebid and considered <br />at the next meeting in September. Commissioner Moretz seconded the motion, and upon <br />a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Garner, Mansfield, Matthews, Moretz, Paschal and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Clerk to the Board Gaynell Lee handed out to Board members new Code of <br />Ordinance books for Lee County. The Board was asked to take the books home, look <br />over them and be prepared to consider adopting them at the next meeting. No action was <br />taken on the matter. <br />The Board considered a request for a traffic study to the completed on John <br />Garner Road and a portion of Swann Station Road. Commissioner Garner expressed <br />concerns about the heavy traffic on these roads due to the constriction on Highway 87. <br />Commissioner Garner moved that the North Carolina Department of Transportation be <br />asked to conduct a traffic study on the above mentioned roads. Commissioner Matthews <br />seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Garner, Mansfield, Matthews, Moretz, Paschal and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered a ground lease agreement with Central Carolina Hospital <br />concerning the lease of a site for the new Emergency Medical Services building. County <br />Attorney K. R. Hoyle discussed the agreement with Board members and answered <br />questions. After much discussion, Chairperson Matthews asked the County Manager and <br />County Attorney to restudy the lease agreement. No action was taken on the matter. <br />County Manager William Cowan discussed with the Board an announcement of a <br />public hearing for the Deep River-Randleman Reservoir scheduled for September 1, <br />1998. The meeting will be held at Guilford Technical College (Fligh Point Road), <br />Jamestown at 6:00 p.m. <br />Commissioner Reives discussed with the Board concerns he had regarding a legal <br />question for which lie had not received an answer from the County Attorney's office. <br />6 <br />
