Mr. Cowan discussed with the Board various locations within the County for possible acquisition. No action was taken on the matter. The Board considered an appointment to the Youth Services Board of Trustees. Commissioner Garner moved to approve the appointment of Laura Phillips to this Board. Commissioner Moretz seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results were as follows: Aye: Garner, Mansfield, Matthews, Moretz, Paschal and Reives Nay: None The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. The Board considered an appointment to the Rest Home and Nursing Home Advisory Board. Chairperson Matthews nominated Barry Souders to this Board. Commissioner Mansfield moved to accept the recommendation of Chairperson Matthews. Commissioner Garner seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results were as follows: Aye: Garner, Mansfield, Matthews, Moretz, Paschal and Reives Nay: None The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. Chairperson Matthews appointed the following individuals to serve on the Service Recognition Committee: Commissioner Hubert Garner Commissioner Ed Paschal Patsy Rogers, Human Services Director John Payne, Parks and Recreation Director Debbie Davidson, Senior Services Director Margaret Johnson, Social Work Supervisor William Cowan, County Manager Chairperson Matthews moved that a letter be forwarded to the North Carolina Department of Transportation requesting a speed limit study for trucks traveling on Edwards Road.
