BOOK 17 P4 44 0 0 3 <br />The Board considered a request for the North Carolina Department of <br />Transportation to conduct tests to restrict and adopt regulations for the use of Kildare <br />Circle by heavy vehicular traffic. Commissioner Reives moved approval of the following <br />resolution: <br />BE IT RESOLVED that the Lee County Board of County Commissioners <br />requests the Department of Transportation to conduct such tests as are necessary and to <br />adopt such regulations as are appropriate to restrict the use of Secondary Road No. 1222 <br />(Kildare Circle) by heavy vehicular traffic. <br />Commissioner Garner seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results were as <br />follows: <br />Aye: Garner, Mansfield, Matthews, Moretz, Paschal and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered a recommendation from the special ad hoc committee <br />recently appointed by Chairperson Matthews to study the on call compensation issue for <br />various Lee County employees. Committee members were Chairperson Matthews, <br />Commissioner Ervin Mansfield, County Manager William Cowan, Maintenance <br />Mechanic Edwin Johnson, Social Services Director Brenda Potts, Social Worker Kelly <br />Smith, Health Director Phyllis Lowry, Animal Control Officer Missy Cook and Human <br />Resource Officer Patsy Rogers. After some discussion, Commissioner Reives moved to <br />approve the following recommendation from the committee for employees required to <br />perform on call duty: <br />• pay $10.00 per weeknight when on call <br />• pay 525.00 per weekend day when on call <br />• pay $100.00 total per week when on call <br />• employees will receive compensatory time off for time actually <br />worked when called out in compliance with the Fair Labor Standards <br />Act <br />Commissioner Paschal seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Garner, Mansfield, Matthews, Moretz, Paschal and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered recommendations from the Planning Board. Chairperson <br />Matthews told the Board the petition by Steve Allmond to rezone from Residential <br />3 <br />
