M <br />BoK V HGE 442 <br />001 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR <br />THE COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br />SEPTEMBER 14, 1998 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County of Lee, State <br />J of North Carolina, convened at 4:00 p.m. in the Commissioners' Room, 106 Hillcrest <br />Drive, Sanford, North Carolina. Commissioners present were F. Hubert Garner, T. Ervin <br />Mansfield, Bertha L. Matthews, J. Douglas Moretz, Nathan E. Paschal and Robert T. <br />Reives. Commissioner Jimmie M. Cox was excused from the meeting due to recent heart <br />surgery. <br />Chairperson Matthews presided and the following business was transacted. <br />Commissioner Hubert Gamer delivered the invocation. <br />The Board considered additional agenda items. County Manager William Cowan <br />asked the Board to consider in closed session the conditions of initial employment of an <br />individual public employee for the Health Department. Chairperson Matthews asked the <br />Board to consider (1) an appointment to the Rest I-lone and Nursing Home Advisory <br />Board, (2) appointment of a service recognition committee and (3) a resolution to allow <br />the Chairperson and County Manager to execute a Memorandum of Agreement between <br />members of the At-Risk Student Task Force. Commissioner Reives asked the Board to <br />request that the Department of Transportation consider restricting the use of Secondary <br />Road No. 1222 (Kildare Circle) by heavy vehicular traffic. Commissioner Gamer moved <br />to add the above items to the agenda. Commissioner Moretz seconded the motion, and <br />upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Ave: Garner, Mansfield, Matthews, Moretz, Paschal and Rcives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Commissioner Moretz moved to approve the consent agenda, which consisted of <br />the following items: <br />
