Chairperson <br />Matthews seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Mansfield, Matthews, Moretz, Paschal and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Commissioner Mansfield asked the Board to consider a letter received from the <br />Davidson County Board of Commissioners to the North Carolina Association of County <br />Commissioners. The letter expressed concerns about the lack of progress in securing the <br />passage of legislation to reform the involuntary annexation laws of the State of North <br />Carolina. Commissioner Mansfield made a motion that Lee County go on record in <br />support of the Davidson County Board of Commissioners concerning this matter. <br />Commissioner Cox seconded the motion. After further discussion, Commissioner Cox <br />made a substitute motion to get in touch with the State Association and see what they are <br />doing on this matter. Commissioner Reives seconded the motion. Commissioner <br />Mansfield withdrew his original motion. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Mansfield, Matthews, Moretz, Paschal and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Chairperson Matthews read a letter of resignation from Lee County Planning <br />Board member Don Angell. Commissioner Cox moved to appoint first alternate the Rev. <br />Herman Morris to Mr. Angell's vacant position and move second alternate Darryl Davis <br />into the first alternate position. Commissioner Mansfield seconded the motion, and upon <br />a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Mansfield, Matthews, Moretz, Paschal and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously and informed <br />the Board the second alternate vacancy would be filled at the next meeting on October 19, <br />1998. <br />5 <br />
