AML <br />BOOK 17 F%E 516 <br />Section 2. The purposes of this moratorium are to allow the Planning Board <br />of Lee County to consider and study the residential zoning districts and subdivision <br />regulations of Lee County and to recommend amendments to said ordinances to the <br />Board of Commissioners and to allow time for the Board of Commissioners to consider, <br />act upon, and enact such amendments that it finds to be designed to encourage the <br />protection and development of the various physical elements of the County in accordance <br />with a comprehensive plan of land use and population density and for the purpose of <br />promoting the public health, safety, morals, and general welfare; promoting the orderly <br />development of the County, preventing the overcrowding of land; and regulating the <br />location and use of structures and land for trade, industry, residences, and other purposes. <br />Section 3. This moratorium shall be in effect from the date of enactment of <br />this ordinance and shall continue in full force and effect for a period of 90 days, until <br />March 1, 1999. <br />Commissioner Garner seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Garner, Mansfield, Matthews, Moretz, Paschal and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Mr. Satterfield told the Board the Planning Board recommended approval of the <br />petition by John Gary Batchelor to rezone from Residential Restricted District to <br />Highway Commercial District, approximately 37.17 acres of land at 3644 Highway 87 <br />South. Commissioner Mansfield moved to accept the recommendation of the Planning <br />Board. Commissioner Garner seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results were as <br />follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Garner, Mansfield, Matthews, Moretz, Paschal and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />026 <br />3 <br />
