0 0 <br />BuoK V mE 549 <br />Commissioner Garner moved that the Board delete Rule 15 in Section VI. <br />Conduct of Debate to no longer require a second to a motion. Commissioner Reives <br />seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Garner, Hincks, Paschal, Rcivcs and Sauls <br />Nay: Matthews <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted by a six to one vote. <br />Commissioner Reives asked County Manager William Cowan to update the <br />Board on the joint resolution and settlement agreement between the Lee County Board <br />of Education and Lee County Board of Commissioners. Mr. Cowan discussed the <br />agreement and answered questions from various Board members. No action was taken <br />on the matter. <br />Commissioner Garner discussed with the Board a concern from the Deep River <br />Community about four-wheelers. After some discussion, it was decided to place this <br />item on the next agenda for the February 1, 1999 meeting for further discussion and to <br />invite Sheriff Billy Bryant to participate in the discussion. No action was taken on the <br />matter. <br />OtUt c~ <br />Commissioner Garner moved that the Board contact the Railroad eat removing <br />a railroad pedestal light in the middle of the road at the intersection of Chatham and <br />Wicker Streets. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Garner, Hincks, Matthews, Paschal, Reives and Sauls <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Lemon Springs farmer Tim Thomas spoke to the Board concerning the need for <br />an Agribusiness Center in Lee County. <br />Commissioner Matthews moved that bids for the proposed new Agribusiness <br />Center be placed on the agenda for the next meeting on February 1, 1999. After some <br />discussion, Commissioner Paschal made an amended motion that if the architect has not <br />supplied the needed reduced bid information by the February 1, 1999, meeting the Board <br />consider the project based on the S1.9 million original contract. Upon a vote of the <br />amended motion, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Garner, Hincks, Matthews, Paschal, Reives and Sauls <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />005 <br />5 <br />
