VI. NEW BUSINESS
C. Appointment of Trudy Forrest to the Triangle J Area on Aging Advisory Board
Senior Services Director Debbie Davidson recommended the appointment of Trudy
Forrest to Triangle J Area Agency on Aging Advisory Board. She further provided that Lee
County has four seats on this council with Ms. Forrest agreeing to fill one of the vacant
seats. Ms. Forest's experience includes service on the Lee County Senior Services
Advisory Board. Commissioner Reives moved to accept the recommendation of the Senior
Services Director to appoint Trudy Forest to the Triangle J Area on Aging Advisory Board.
Upon a vote, the results were as follows:
Aye: Dalrymple, Dodson, Knecht, Oldham, Reives, Sharpe, Sloan
Nay: None
The Chair ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously.
D. Security Surveillance System for the Lee County Sheriffs Office
Chief Deputy Randall Butler provided the board with a request for a security
surveillance system at the Lee County Sheriff's Office. The proposed system will allow the
Lee County Sheriffs Office to have complete surveillance of the areas outside of the
courthouse and old courthouse including the parking lots. The surveillance will be forensic
in nature, meaning that once an incident occurs, staff will be able to view the footage in
order to clearly identify what happened. The system will also afford the Sheriffs Office the
opportunity to view real-time activity allowing them to monitor activity outside the
courthouse. The system is one similar to the one at the Government Center, which has
allowed the County to improve security and safety without adding staff. A representative
from the security surveillance system company was present to voice support for the
system and answer questions. Commissioner Reives moved to approve the purchase of a
security surveillance system for the Sherriff's Office. Upon a vote, the results were as
follows:
Aye: Dalrymple, Dodson, Knecht, Oldham, Reives, Sharpe, Sloan
Nay: None
The Chair ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously.
E. Overview of 2017 Employee Survey Results
Management Analyst Michael Silverman provided an overview of the 2017
Employee Survey Results. The survey was open to all Lee County employees to complete
for three weeks during the summer. Prior to the opening of the survey, Human Resources
staff met with supervisors to introduce the survey and its purposes, as well as the impacts
of previous surveys on county operations and policies. Staff also addressed any employee
questions and concerns regarding these meetings. Each employee was given the
opportunity to complete an online survey.
