Commissioner Matthews moved to go into closed session to discuss matters relating to the location of an industry in Lee County. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: Aye: Adams, Garner, Hincks, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Sauls Nay: None The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously and the Board was in closed session. After completing business in closed session, Commissioner Garner moved to go out of closed session. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: Aye: Adams, Garner, Hincks, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Sauls Nay: None The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. The meeting recessed at 4:15 p.m. for a budget work session in the Gordon Wicker Conference Room. Chairman Hincks opened the work session at 4:30 p.m. with all Commissioners present. Lee County School Superintendent Robert Logan and Board of Education Chainnan Randy Mann asked the Board for additional money above the amount agreed upon in the 1997 joint agreement between the Board of Education and the Lee County Board of Commissioners. Commissioners asked County Manager William Cowan various questions concerning requested and recommended items in his 1999-2000 budget. No action was taken on any budget matter. The Board decided to hold another budget work session on Monday, May 24, 1999, at 7:00 a.m. in the Gordon Wicker Conference Room. The work session adjourned at 6:45 p.m, to the Old Lee County Courthouse for advertised public hearings. Chairman Hincks opened the public hearing to hear comments concerning the proposed FY 1999/2000 budget.
