BOOK 1 7 nsG 70 5 O <br />Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Garner, Hincks, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Sauls <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Commissioner Reives moved to adopt the Budget Ordinance and Tax Levy for FY 1999- <br />2000, a copy of which is attached to these minutes and by this reference made a part hereof. <br />Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Garner, Hincks, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Sauls <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered meeting schedules for the months of July and August, 1999. <br />After some discussion, Commissioner Adams moved to hold one meeting on July 12, 1999 at <br />3:00 p.m., and one meeting on August 23, 1999 at 3:00 p.m. Upon a vote, the results were as <br />follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Garner, Hincks, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Sauls <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Commissioner Garner made a motion that the Board send a letter to Mr. James French <br />recognizing his recent appointment as Director of the Division of Prisons. Upon a vote, the <br />results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Garner, Hincks, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Sauls <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Commissioner Garner asked that the Board submit a letter to the NC Department of <br />Transportation asking them to consider placing exit markers on US #1 at US 421 and US <br />15-501 exits. After some discussion, County Manager William Cowan was instructed by the <br />Chairman to contact the Department of Transportation about this matter. <br />At this time Chairman Hincks opened the public hearing that had been advertised for <br />this date and time to hear comments concerning incentives for American Cyanamid <br />Company. Economic Development Director Bob Heuts told the Board that the Lee County <br />Economic Development Corporation had evaluated the proposed expansion of Wyeth-Lederle <br />in Lee County and recommended that the County provide local incentives in the amount of <br />$690,336. If approved, the incentives would be paid out over a five-year period beginning in <br />July, 2002. Only four individuals were in the audience and no one, other than Mr. fleuts, <br />spoke in favor of or in opposition to the incentive request. <br />5 <br />
