Health Director Mike Hanes asked the Board to <br />consider establishing a new Environmental Health position (Grade 65). He told the <br />Board that the position would be effective July 1, 1999, and would only be filled by a <br />fully authorized Registered Sanitarian. After some discussion, Commissioner Adams <br />moved to approve establishing a new Environmental Health position, to be effective <br />July 1, 1999, and to only be filled by an authorized Registered Sanitarian. Upon a vote, <br />the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Garner, Hincks, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Sauls <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered a voting delegate for the annual NACo Conference to be <br />held in St. Louis, Missouri, on July 17-21, 1999. Commissioner Matthews nominated <br />Chairman Hincks as the Lee County voting delegate. Upon a vote, the results were as <br />follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Garner, Hincks, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Sauls <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered a voting delegate for the Association's Annual <br />Conference, which will be held in Asheville on August 19-22, 1999. Commissioner <br />Reives nominated Commissioner Garner as the Lee County voting delegate. Upon a <br />vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Garner, Hincks, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Sauls <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered special Board meetings for the month of July. County <br />Manager William Cowan told the Board that two separate actions are required of the <br />Board in the month of July in order to proceed with the construction of the Emergency <br />Medical Services (EMS) building. The Board will need to award bids on the project <br />anytime after Local Government Commission approval, which is anticipated on August <br />3, 1999.
