After further discussion, Commissioner Garner made a <br />substitute motion to approve the recommendation of the County Manager to conduct a <br />public hearing prior to the abandonment of the requested section of road. After still <br />further discussion, Commissioner Garner amended his motion to approve the resolution <br />presented by Martin Marietta (a copy of which is attached to these minutes and by this <br />reference made a part hereof) and asked that the North Carolina Department of <br />Transportation hold a public hearing on the matter before any action is taken. Upon a <br />vote of the amended motion, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Garner, Hincks, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Sauls <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered a recommendation from the Planning Board. Community <br />Development Director Reggie Scales told the Board that the Planning Board <br />recommended approval to amend Article VIII, Dimensional Requirements, Section I <br />Table of Area and Yard Requirements in the Lee County Zoning Ordinance. <br />Commissioner Sauls moved to approve the recommendation of the Planning Board, a <br />copy of which is attached to these minutes and by this reference made a part hereof. <br />Commissioner Paschal seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results were as <br />follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Garner, Hincks, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Sauls <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Community Development Director Reggie Scales discussed with the Board the <br />development of a City-County Zoning Ordinance. He told the Board that this was <br />recommended in the 2020 Land Use Plan. A consultant will be hired in the near future <br />to compose a joint ordinance. No action was taken on the matter. <br />The Board considered renewal of the vehicle maintenance agreement between <br />the County of Lee and the City of Sanford. Public Works Director Kenny Cole <br />discussed with the Board estimated savings that have taken place over the past year. <br />Commissioner Matthews requested that departments that have county vehicles submit a <br />written report to the County Manager as to their pleasure or displeasure with the <br />service, etc. provided by the City. After further discussion, Commissioner Garner <br />moved to approve a one-year renewal of the vehicle maintenance agreement between <br />the City of Sanford and the County of Lee.
