C SAI <br />819 <br />It~ rl <br />varb of (fammissianers <br />CID <br />Whereas, on Sunday evening, July 11, 1999, two Lee County Deputies were wounded by a gunman; <br />and, <br />Whereas, this incident has raised public awareness of all the dangers that law enforcement, rescue, <br />emergency medical services, emergency management, and fire personnel go through in conducting their jobs; <br />and, <br />Whereas, many of these individuals that put their lives on the line are underpaid and some receive no <br />pay at all because of their volunteer efforts. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners for Lee <br />County as follows: - <br />Section 1: That it commends all law enforcement, rescue, emergency medical services, <br />emergency management, and fire personnel for their attitude and willingness to undertake these sometimes <br />dangerous positions. <br />Section 2: That it expresses it's appreciation to these individuals for their dedicated service in <br />making Sanford and Lee County a better place to live. <br />Section 3: That it asks all citizens of Sanford and Lee County to say "thank you" to these highly <br />trained and competent individuals for the excellent work they perform. <br />Section 4: That the Chairman authorize a copy of this resolution to be presented to each <br />department mentioned above with appropriate ceremony. <br />Adopted this 23rd day f }cngn t, 1999. <br />,au <br />Herbert A.
