004 <br />WHEREAS, the North Carolina Division of Pollution Prevention and <br />Environmental Assistance has provided funding to conduct a Triangle Solid Waste Future <br />Search; and <br />WHEREAS, in order for a Future Search to succeed, it is necessary that a <br />diversity of elected officials, top managers, technical staff, private industry and interested <br />advocates participate in the event; <br />THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the County of Lee authorizes the <br />Chairman of the Board of Commissioners to designate two of its elected board members <br />to participate in a Triangle Solid Waste Future Search tentatively scheduled for February <br />23-25, 2000; and <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the County of Lee authorizes the Manager <br />to designate appropriate staff members, including at least the Manager or his <br />representative and the Solid Waste Director, to participate in the same Future Search. <br />Commissioner Garner moved to approve the above resolution. Upon a vote, the results <br />were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Garner, Hincks, Matthews, Paschal, Sauls <br />Nay: None <br />Absent: Reives <br />The Chainnan ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered matters relating to the Rural Operating Assistance Program. <br />Senior Services Director Debbie Davidson told the Board that a public hearing had been <br />advertised for this date and time to hear comments from the general public concerning an <br />application for the Rural Operating Assistance Program funding from the North Carolina <br />Department of Transportation. She told the Board that the Elderly and Disabled <br />Transportation Program, the Work First/Employment Transportation Program, and the <br />Rural General Public Transportation Program would be funded through this program, if <br />approved. <br />Chairman Hincks opened the public hearing concerning the above matter. <br />No one spoke in favor of or in opposition to the application for funding. <br />Chairman Hincks closed the public hearing. <br />Commissioner Paschal moved to approve the application for funding of the Rural <br />Operating Assistance Program from the North Carolina Department of Transportation. <br />Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />4 <br />
