Upon a <br />vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Hincks, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Sauls <br />Nay: None <br />Absent: Garner <br />The Chairman ruled the matter had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered a request from the Tax Office to write off S17,695.75 in <br />delinquent tax bills for 1988. Tax Administrator Roger Kelley told the Board that he had <br />exhausted all means of locating these individuals for payment. After some discussion, <br />Commissioner Reives moved to approve the write off of 517,695.75 in 1988 delinquent <br />tax bills. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Hincks, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Sauls <br />Nay: None <br />Absent: Garner <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Tax Administrator Roger Kelley discussed with the Board a monthly progress <br />calendar concerning the countywide revaluation. His next report will be due to the Board <br />on October 18, 1999. <br />The Board considered all agreement between Pay-Tel Telephone Systems and the <br />Lee County Jail. Sheriff Billy Bryant asked that the Board enter into an agreement with <br />Pay-Tel Telephone Systems to install pay telephones at the Lee County Jail for inmate <br />telecommunications. After some discussion, Commissioner Reives moved to approve an <br />inmate telecommunications agreement between Pay-Tel Telephone Systems and the Lee <br />County Jail, a copy of which is attached to these minutes and by this reference made a <br />part hereof. Lee Camp # 803, <br />Sons of Confederate Veterans, to place a memorial of General Robert E. Lee at the Lee <br />County Courthouse. Representatives Lewis Lawrence and Bill Johnson told the Board <br />that the civic historical organization would like to raise the needed funds and establish a <br />fitting memorial to the namesake of Lee County, Robert Edward Lee, place the memorial <br />in a place where it could be enjoyed by all of the citizens of Lee County, and present the <br />memorial as a gift to the citizens of Lee County during the County's 100°i year <br />3 <br />
