Commissioners present were W. Chad Adams, Herbert <br />A. Hincks, Bertha L. Matthews, Nathan E. Paschal, and John I. Sauls. Commissioners F. <br />Hubert Gamer and Robert T. Reives were absent. <br />Chairman Hincks presided and the following business was transacted. <br />Rev. Jack Hunter, Minister of Jones Chapel Church delivered the invocation. <br />Mike Hanes led the pledge of allegiance. <br />The Board considered additional agenda items. Chairman Hincks asked that the <br />Board consider a proclamation to proclaim September 19-25, 1999 as "POW/MIA <br />RECOGNTTION WEEK" in Lee County, a copy of which is attached to these minutes <br />and by this reference made a part hereof Commissioner Matthews asked that the Board <br />consider forwarding a letter to the North Carolina Department of Transportation asking <br />that a traffic study be conducted on the portion of Greenwood Road from the railroad to <br />Willett Road, for the placement of "No Passing" signs. Commissioner Adams moved to <br />add the above items to the agenda. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Hincks, Matthews, Paschal, and Sauls <br />Nay: None <br />Absent: Garner and Reives <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Commissioner Reives joined the meeting at this time. <br />Commissioner Adams moved to approve the consent agenda, which consisted of <br />the following items: <br />• Minutes of the September 7, 1999 regular meeting <br />• Tax Releases and Refunds for August, 1999 (copy attached) <br />
