Upon a vote, the <br />results were as follows: <br />Aye: Garner, Hincks, Matthews, Paschal, and Sands <br />Nay: None <br />Absent: Adams and Reives <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered appointments to the steering committee for the rewriting of <br />the Sanford/Lee County Zoning Ordinance. Community Development Director Reggie <br />Scales told the Board that the City Council had recommended that the Town of Broadway <br />appoint two individuals to this committee, instead of one as was recommended at the last <br />meeting. After some discussion, Commissioner Garner moved that the committee be <br />composed of twenty-two members, ten appointed by the City of Sanford, ten from the <br />County of Lee, and two from the Town of Broadway. Upon a vote, the results were as <br />follows: <br />Aye: Garner, Hincks, Matthews, Paschal, and Sauls <br />Nay: None <br />Absent: Adams and Reives <br />Chainuan Hincks stated that appointments to this committee would be made at the next <br />meeting on November 15, 1999 and that applications were to be obtained from the City <br />Clerk and County Clerk. <br />The Board considered a proclamation for Farm-City Week. Mr. Bill Huggins, <br />Chairman of Farm-City Week asked that the Board approve a proclamation to proclaim <br />November 21-27, 1999 as Farm-City Week. He told the Board that the annual Farm- <br />City Banquet would be held on Monday, November 22, 1999 at 6:00 p.m. at the Dennis <br />Wicker Civic Center. Commissioner Matthews moved to approve the following <br />proclamation: <br />WHEREAS, the growth and development of the County and the well-being of all <br />its citizens are dependent upon cooperation and exchange between the two essential <br />environments of our society: fanners and city people; and <br />2 <br />
