Bou 17 P"GE 956 <br />003 <br />Aye: Adams, Garner, Hincks, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Sauls <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Commissioner Garner made a motion that the Department of Transportation be <br />asked to place signage in and around Raleigh that reads "US I South" at each location <br />where there already appears a "US 64 West" sign. He told the Board that he felt many <br />people traveling in the Raleigh area did not know where US I South was because there <br />are no signs on 1-440 that give directions to US 1 South. He also asked that the "Deep <br />River" community sign be replaced on old US 1. Upon a vote, the results were as <br />follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Garner, Hincks, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Sauls <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />County Manager William Cowan discussed with the Board current construction <br />projects in the County. <br />Mr. Cowan told the Board that all hardware and software in the County was in <br />Y2K compliance except one of the tax programs. This was due to the fact that Cole- <br />Layer Tremble had sent the wrong tapes to use with the program. Commissioner Garner <br />moved that the County Manager send a letter to Cole-Layer Trumble expressing the <br />Board's concerns with this problem. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Garner, Hincks, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Sauls <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Commissioner Reives asked that all department heads submit a statement by <br />February 1, 2000 as to any problems they may or may not have encountered in their <br />departments regarding Y2K issues. <br />Commissioner Matthews asked that Lee County Wildlife Officer Bryan Scruggs <br />be invited to the next meeting to discuss Lee County hunting regulations. <br />Chairman Hincks infortned the Board that a joint meeting with members of the <br />Lee County Board of Education would be held following the next regular meeting on <br />January 18, 2000. <br />Commissioner Garner moved to go into closed session to (1) discuss matters <br />relating to the expansion of an industry in Lee County and (2) discussion on possible <br />3 <br />
