Commissioner Reives asked that the General Robert E. Lee Camp 1803 be asked to submit future requests to the Board of Commissioners instead of the County Manager. The Board considered two grant pre-applications from the Sheriff's Department. Domestic Violence Investigator James Estes asked that the Board consider and approve a grant pre-application for 548,000 from the Governor's Crime Commission for second year funding of a Domestic Violence Investigator position. He told the Board that the County currently contributes S 16,000 in in-kind services for this grant. He also asked that the Board consider and approve a grant pre-application from the Governor's Crime Commission for 593,662 to purchase sixteen mobile data terminals that will be placed in three patrol cars and all detective cars that currently do not have terminals. After some discussion, Commissioner Matthews moved to approve the above grant pre-applications. After sonic discussion, Commissioner Reives moved to approve the receipt of the above grants. The Board considered a date for a public hearing concerning a lease agreement with the Optimist Club of Sanford. County Attorney K. R. Hoyle told the Board that the City of Sanford conveyed the Park Street property to Lee County, giving the County title as long as the property is used for park and recreational purposes. 'rhe Optimist Club of Sanford, Inc. has indicated that it would like to purchase the old NYA building located on Tryon Street. The Optimist Club has worked out a lease with the City of Sanford and the Commissioners must adopt a resolution scheduling a public hearing on the matter. After some discussion, Commissioner Garner moved to schedule a public hearing on the above matter for 3:00 p.m. at the January 18, 2000 meeting. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: 0012 2
