002 <br />bcox V P!GE 959 <br />The Chainnan ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Commissioner Adams moved to approve the consent agenda which consisted of <br />the following items: <br />• Minutes of the January 3, 2000 regular meeting <br />• Tax Releases and Refunds for November, 1999 (copy attached) <br />• Budget amendment # 01 /18/00/9 (copy attached) <br />• Request that the North Carolina Department of Transportation conduct a <br />traffic study on Colon Road to reduce the speed limit <br />• Request to purchase twenty-three computers in the amount of 530,889 for the <br />Social Services Department (copy attached) <br />• Resolution to release Lee County's share of Economic Development monies <br />in the amount of 53,120.07 from the State Budget Office to the Triangle J <br />Council of Governments <br />Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Garner, Hincks, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Sanls <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered a request to amend a grant-application from the Sheriff's <br />Department. Domestic Violence Investigator James Estes asked that the Board amend <br />one of the two grant pre-applications approved at the last meeting. At the January 3, <br />2000 meeting the Board approved a grant pre-application from the Governor's Crime <br />Commission to purchase sixteen mobile data terminals to be used in patrol cars and <br />detective cars that currently do not have terminals. Mr. Estes asked that the Board amend <br />this application to purchase five terminals instead of the original sixteen requested. After <br />sonic discussion, Commissioner Matthews moved to approve the amended request as <br />presented. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Garner, Hincks, Matthews, Paschal, Rcives, and Sauls <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered a public hearing to enter into a ten-year lease agreement <br />with the Optimist Club of Sanford, Inc. County Attorney K. R. Hoyle told the Board that <br />at the last meeting a public hearing for this date and time had been scheduled to hear <br />comments pertaining to a ten-year lease with the Optimist Club of Sanford, Inc. for the <br />unused NYA Building on Tryon Street. Chairman Flincks opened the public hearing. No <br />one spoke in favor of or in opposition to the lease. Chainnan Hincks closed the public <br />hearing.
