7 <br />BrnK 17 P~Au 980 <br />The Board considered bids for the Lee County Forestry Services building. Public <br />Works Director Kenny Cole told the Board that he had received bids for the construction <br />of a 2800 sq. ft. metal building for the Forestry Services equipment and storage building <br />from the following vendors: <br />J & J Builders No Bid <br />Biscoe, NC (due to workload) <br />Atlantic Metal Buildings No Bid <br />Smithfield, NC (due to workload) <br />Fayetteville Metal Buildings No Bid <br />Fayetteville, NC (due to workload) <br />Aiken Design Builders No Bid <br />Clayton, NC (could not obtain bond) <br />Womble &,Company $118,000 <br />Sanford, NC <br />Sanford Metal Buildings No Bid <br />Sanford, NC (due to workload) <br />Mr. Cole told the Board that the bid received was approximately S27,li0 over budget. <br />He met several times with Forestry Service representatives to reduce the size of the <br />building and negotiated a price from Womble & Company at 599,682. The Forestry <br />Services will provide approximately $8,500 in labor to complete the site work and have <br />also agreed to accept a smaller modular unit for their offices that will bring the project <br />within budget. Commissioner Matthews moved to accept the bid from Womble & <br />Company at $99,682 for the construction of the Forestry Services equipment storage <br />building. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Garner, Hineks, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Sauls <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Mr. Cole took this time to commend his staff of eight (8) individuals that worked <br />to clear snow and ice from County parking lots and walkways during the recent storm. <br />The Board discussed a proposed Ordinance concerning house numbering in Lee <br />County. Commissioner Bert Matthews told the Board that volunteer fire departments had <br />expressed concerns that house numbers are not properly shown on houses and mobile <br />homes in the County. Emergency Management Director Warren Lee told the Board of <br />recent instances during the winter storm where volunteers went to pick up individuals <br />that had no power or heat and could not locate the houses because of this same situation. <br />7 <br />
