Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Garner, Fiincks, Matthews, Paschal, and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />Absent: Sauls <br />The Chainnan ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously, and the Clerk to <br />the Board reported to the Board of Commissioners that the bond orders entitled, "BOND <br />ORDER AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE OF $4,300,000 COMMUNITY COLLEGE <br />BONDS OF THE COUNTY OF LEE" and "BOND ORDER AUTHORIZING THE <br />ISSUANCE OF 525,700,000 SCHOOL BONDS OF THE COUNTY OF LEE," which <br />had been introduced on February 21, 2000, had each been published in The Sanford <br />Herald on March 9, 2000, with notice that the Board would hold public hearings on <br />March 20, 2000. The Clerk also reported that the County Finance Officer had filed in the <br />Clerk's office a statement of debt complying with the provisions of The Local <br />Government Bond Act and such statement as filed showed the net indebtedness of the <br />County to be 2.49% of the assessed valuation of property in Lee County subject to <br />taxation. <br />Commissioner Adams moved that the Board of Commissioners proceed to hold a <br />public hearing on the community college bond order. Commissioner Paschal seconded <br />the motion, and upon a vole, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Garner, Hincks, Matthews, Paschal, and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />Absent: Sauls <br />At 7:10 p.m. the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners announced that the <br />Board of Commissioners would hear anyone who wished to be heard on the questions of <br />the validity of the community college bond order and the advisability of issuing the <br />bonds.
