006 <br />naox 18 NICE 66 <br />Aye: Adams, Garner, Hincks, Matthews, Paschal, and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />Absent: Sauls <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered a letter of support for the Healthy Carolinians (LeeCAN) <br />program. Commissioner Garner moved that a letter of support be drafted endorsing the <br />application of the Lee County Community Action Network (LeeCAN) to become a <br />certified Healthy Carolinians Task Force. Health Director Mike Hanes told the Board <br />that LeeCAN has made major contributions to Lee County through the efforts of its <br />task forces. This network has brought forth the collaboration of a range of human <br />service agencies, community organizations and community members. Commissioner <br />Garner moved that a letter of support be sent to the Division of Public Health endorsing <br />the Lee Community Action Network (LeeCAN) to become a certified Healthy <br />Carolinians Task Force. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Garner, Hincks, Matthews, Paschal, and Reivcs <br />Nay: None <br />Absent: Sauls <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Commissioner Adams moved to adjourn the meeting to the budget work session <br />in the Gordon Wicker Comm11unity Conference Room. Upon a vote, the results were as <br />follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Garner, Hincks, Matthews, Paschal, and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />Absent: Sauls <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Chairman Hincks called the budget work session to order. All Commissioners <br />were present except Commissioner San15. <br />The Board discussed additional funds that had been requested for the Dennis <br />Wicker Civic Center. After some discussion, Commissioner Adams moved to send a <br />letter to the Lee County delegation requesting that the Lee County Room Occupancy <br />tax be increased from 3% to 5% in order to make the Civic Center self-supporting. <br />Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Garner, Hincks, Matthews, Paschal, and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />Absent: Sanls <br />6 <br />
