Box 18 NAGE 122 <br />Commissioner Reives moved to approve an application with the Rural <br />Operating Assistance Program for FY 2000-2001. Upon a vote, the results were as <br />follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Garner, Hincks, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and San15 <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered the Lee County Solid Waste Management Plan Update. <br />Public Works Director Kenny Cole and Solid Waste Superintendent .Joe Cherry told the <br />Board that according to NC General Statute 130A-309.09A(b), local governments must <br />update their ten-year comprehensive solid waste management plan every three years. <br />Lee County has completed the preparation of this update and will submit it for approval <br />and a public hearing is required prior to approval. <br />Commissioner Adams moved to open the public hearing. Upon a vote, the <br />results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Garner, Hincks, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Sauls <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Lee County Solid Waste Superintendent Joe Cherry spoke in favor of the plan <br />update. <br />No one spoke in opposition to'the plan update. <br />Chairman Hincks closed the public hearing. <br />Commissioner Adams moved to approve a resolution to approve the Lee County <br />Solid Waste Management Plan Update, a copy of which is attached to these minutes <br />and by this reference made a part hereof. Upon a vole, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Garner, Hincks, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Sauls <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered a proposed Community Development Block Grant <br />(CDBG). Economic Development Director Bob Hems told the Board that a public <br />hearing was required to obtain citizen input into the identification of community needs <br />and desired CDBG activities. He also told the Board that Lee County intends to seek <br />funds from the North Carolina Department of Commerce's Small Cities Community <br />Development Block Grant program.
