a 0 <br />BOOK 18 P.-CF W <br />Eagle Landscaping 519,690.00 <br />Sanford, NC <br />Mr. Hall recommended that the Board accept the low bid from Cole Brothers <br />Landscaping. After some discussion, Commissioner Garner moved to accept the low bid <br />of 512,367.00 from Cole Brothers Landscaping. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Garner, Hincks, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Sauls <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered a bid for the purchase of equipment for the new children's <br />dental clinic. Health Director Mike Hanes told the Board that only one bid had been <br />received from Thompson Dental Company in the amount of 5149,000.00. Mr. Hanes <br />recommended that the bid be accepted so the dental office could be ready for clients by <br />September 1, 2000. Commissioner Paschal moved to accept the bid from Thompson <br />Dental Company in the amount of 5149,000.00. After further discussion, Commissioner <br />Paschal withdrew his motion. After still further discussion, Commissioner Paschal <br />moved to reject the bid from Thompson Dental Company and re-advertise. Upon a vote, <br />the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Garner, Hincks, Matthews, Paschal, and Reives <br />Nay: Adams and Sauls <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted by a five to two vote. <br />The Board considered bids for the 1998 Single Family Rehabilitation Project <br />(CDBG). Planner Karen Jones told the Board that four bids had been received for the <br />rehabilitation of five homes. She told the Board that several factors were considered in <br />making a recommendation for awarding the bids. These factors included budget <br />constraints, time constraints, ability and reputation of the contractor, size and work force <br />of the contractor, and contractor references. She recommended to the Board that two of <br />the units be awarded to the next to lowest bidder, which would eliminate the possibility <br />of delaying the project.
