N.C. <br />JULY 10, 2000 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County of Lee, State <br />of North Carolina, convened at 3:00 p.m. in the Commissioners' Room, 106 Hillerest <br />Drive, Sanford, North Carolina. Commissioners present were W. Chad Adams, F. Hubert <br />Garner, Herbert A. Hincks, Bertha L. Matthews, Nathan E. Paschal, Robert T. Reives, <br />and John I. SLUIS. <br />Chairman Hincks presided and the following business was transacted. <br />County Attorney K. R. Hoyle delivered the invocation. <br />Cecil Cameron led the pledge of allegiance. <br />The Board considered additional agenda items. Chairman Hincks asked that the <br />Board delete the matter concerning a resolution to support Carolinians for Fair Electric <br />Rates Inc. Commissioner Adams asked that the Board discuss a merit pay plan for <br />county employees. Commissioner Reives asked that the Board consider presenting a <br />resolution to the twelve year old and under Lee County Jaguars basketball team, coached <br />by Larry Goins, that recently returned from Florida with a third place will. <br />Commissioner Garner asked that the Board consider the acceptance or a Criminal Justice <br />Partnership Program Grant for Youth Services and a Runaway/Homeless Youth Grant <br />application for Youth Services. Commissioner Paschal moved to approve the agenda <br />with the above changes. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams Garner, Hincks, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Suds <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Commissioner Garner moved to approve the consent agenda that consisted of the <br />following items: <br />• Minutes of the June 19, 2000 regular meeting <br />OOI <br />• Minutes of the June 26, 2000 special meeting <br />• Minutes of the June 51h and 19th, 2000 closed sessions <br />
