There are also statutes that provide that medical contractors <br />and sanitaTians (environmental health specialists) will be defended by the Attorney <br />General, and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources will pay any <br />judgment recovered against them. He told the Board that they had several options to <br />consider: (1) rely on sovereign or government immunity, (2) limit or modify the <br />County's insurance coverage, (3) seek legislation through the N.C. Association of County <br />Commissioners, (4) cease to provide inspection service, or (5) continue present insurance <br />coverage. He told the Board that by the end of the fiscat year, Safety and Training <br />Officer Bob Brown should know what changes have occurred in the cost of continuing <br />the present insurance coverage. The Board can decide at that time whether or not it <br />wants to continue insurance coverage at that level. No action was taken on the matter. <br />The Board considered an appointment to the Steering Committee to rewrite the <br />SanfordlLce County Zoning Ordinance. Commissioner Adams moved to appoint Jean <br />Reynolds to fill the position that Woodrow Mashburn previous held. Upon a vote, the <br />results were as follows: <br />Ave: Adams, Garner, Hincks, Matthew, Paschal, Reives, and Sails <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Commissioner Reives moved that a resolution in support of community college <br />and university bonds be approved and forwarded to Dr. Marvin Joyner, President of <br />Central Carolina Community College, a copy of which is attached to these minutes and <br />by this reference made a part hereof.
