Mr. Reives told the Board that a property owner who owned five acres of <br />land wished to donate one acre to the Habitat for Humanity organization. Community <br />Development Director Ron Satterfield told the Board that the property in question did not <br />meet the zoning requirements for subdividing. After some discussion, Chairman Hincks <br />asked Mr. Satterfield to have the Planning Board study the matter and report back to the <br />Board with a recommendation. No action was taken on the matter. <br />The Board considered an agreement between the County of Lee and the Boys and <br />Girls Club of Sanford/Lee County. Recreation Director John Payne asked the Board to <br />consider an agreement for the Recreation Department to co-sponsor an after-school <br />program with the Boys and Girls Club of Sanford/Lee County at the Armory. If <br />approved, the program would utilize a block of time that is used very little at the Armory <br />at this time. After some discussion, Commissioner Garner moved to approve the <br />agreement between the County of Lee and the Boys and Girls Club of Sanford/Lee <br />County. Recreation Director John Payne asked that <br />the Board permit him to apply to the North Carolina Parks and Recreation Trust Fund for <br />a grant to purchase land and develop an athletic complex. He also asked that the Board <br />approve an amount not to exceed 515,000 for professional planning and design assistance <br />for the proposed complex. After some discussion, Commissioner Sauls moved approval <br />of an application to the North Carolina Parks and Recreation Trust for a PARTF grant <br />and approval for professional planning and design assistance for the proposed project, not <br />to exceed $15,000.
