0 ei;o' 18 P .ACE 003 <br />Buddy Keller, Chairman of the Sanford-Lee County Regional Airport Authority <br />gave the Board an update on the construction of the new airport project. He told the <br />Board that weather permitting, the new airport should be completed in the next 3-6 <br />weeks. <br />Kate Dixon from the Triangle Land Conservancy gave the Board a presentation <br />on the non-profit organization and its work in Lee County. She told the Board that the <br />Conservancy's mission is not only to conserve open space through direct land protection, <br />but also to work with local govemments by providing expertise and services to aid in <br />conservation programs. <br />The Board considered delinquent 1998 real estate taxes. Tax Administrator Roger <br />Kelley asked that the Board allow him to begin tax foreclosure proceedings on 1998 <br />delinquent real estate taxes as authorized in GS 105-375. After some discussion, <br />Commissioner Garner moved to approve tax foreclosure proceedings on 1998 delinquent <br />real estate taxes. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Garner, Hincks, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and SanIS <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered a budget amendment for the Youth Services Department. <br />County Manager William Cowan told the Board that $15,000 in new revenue had been <br />received for the Youth Services Department due to a new shelter contract with the Moore <br />County Office of Juvenile Justice. Of the $15,000, Youth Services Director Randell <br />Woodruff would like to use 55,200 to pay the supervision fees for the Licensed <br />Psychological Associate (Psychologist) working at his facility, with the remainder of the <br />funds going into the county general fund. Commissioner Garner moved to approve a <br />budget amendment to allocate $5,200 for the Licensed Psychological Associate at Youth <br />Services. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Garner, Hincks, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Sanls <br />Nay: None <br />The Chaimnan ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered the acceptance of a Discretionary Award to the Youth <br />Services Department. County Manager William Cowan told the Board that the Youth <br />Services Department had received discretionary funds from the North Carolina <br />Department of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention in the amount of $7,050. <br />The funds will be used to purchase several equipment itenns for Youth Service programs. <br />Commissioner Garner moved to approve the acceptance of $7,050 from the North <br />Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention.
