Oil <br />BUNK 1$ P.,GF 173 <br />LEE COUNTY <br />COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTER WEEK <br />AUGUST 20 - 26, 2000 <br />WHEREAS, There is a significant number of residents and citizens in Lee County who <br />are currently medically underserved for a number of reasons, the most prominent of <br />which include geographical isolation, financial and/or language barriers, and an <br />insufficient number of health providers willing to serve them without regard to ability to <br />pay, and <br />WHEREAS, The Piedmont Health Services, Inc. is a private, nonprofit corporation that <br />provide high quality comprehensive health care to medically underserved people in Lee <br />and other counties, and <br />WHEREAS, The Moncure Health Center though not physically located in Lee County <br />serves many Lee County residents and has made great strides in the Lee County health <br />care system specifically by maintaining a high standard of accountability, demonstrating <br />cost effectiveness, empowering our community to develop programs to its specific needs, <br />enhancing opportunities for children and families, and providing health care services in <br />accessible low-cost culturally sensitive environments; and <br />WHEREAS, The Moncure Health Center has also made a significant difference in the <br />health care system by improving access to quality care provided by trained professionals <br />for the underserved by promoting individual responsibility and health awareness in the <br />community, and offering primary preventive care of the highest quality to reduce <br />preventable deaths, costly disabilities, and communicable diseases; and <br />WHEREAS, Community Health Centers like the Moncure Health Center promote 100" <br />access and zero health disparities to help achieve primary health care for everyone and <br />end disparities; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE LEE COUNTYBOARD OF COMMISSIONERS do <br />hereby proclaim the week of August 20 through 26, 2000 as "COMMUNITY HEALTH <br />CENTER WEEK" and urge our citizens to recognize the important contributions of the <br />Moncure Health Center to the improvement of the general quality of life of the residents <br />of Lee County. <br />/114- <br />This resolution is adopted this _ day of A,uot, 2000. <br />Chairman <br />SEAL <br />
