Paid overtime has been granted to <br />certain employees to help accommodate the additional workload. City Manager Hal Hegwer <br />stated that the City is working on renovating the downstairs area of the Buggy Factory to <br />expand the departments and has transferred a temporary permit clerk position to permanent. <br />13. Residential Task Force : Mayor Mann stated that one of the identified weaknesses in Sanford is <br />the residential housing stock. The Residential Task Force has met with developers to find out <br />what it would take to bring them to the area. While some developers have expressed opinions <br />regarding location and marketability, the mission of the task force has been to work on <br />overcoming the perceived barriers. Some developers have expressed an interest in the Deep <br />River and northern part of the County. <br />14. Sanford/Lee County Youth Council : Community Development Manager Karen Kennedy stated <br />that the Youth Council was created in 2007 serving grades 9 through 12 and while it initially <br />drew interest, due to competing interests with the Young Commissioners and other programs, <br />recent participation has waned. Mrs. Kennedy requested a reassessment of the current need <br />and direction of the Youth Council. <br />15. Land Use Plan : The Planning Department is currently in the last steps of finalizing the 2020 <br />Land Use Plan. The steering committee will meet this Thursday to review the plan. Joint and <br />public meetings will be held in the near future.
