Aye: Dalrymple, Dodson, Knecht, Oldham, Reives, Sharpe, Sloan <br />Nay: None <br />The Chair ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Contract with the Sanford Area Growth Alliance <br />County Attorney Whitney Parrish stated that changes discussed at the budget work <br />session on June 5, 2017 had been incorporated into the proposed contract with the <br />Sanford Area Growth Alliance, which was presented for the Board's consideration for <br />approval. Commissioner Oldham moved to amend the presented contract to eliminate <br />paragraph 3 along with items c, d, and j under paragraph 8. After discussion, <br />Commissioner Oldham moved to call the question and revised his motion related to <br />paragraph 3 to state the County will have the discretion to appoint three members to the <br />Sanford Area Growth Alliance Board of Directors as was provided for in the original <br />contract. Upon a vote on Commissioner Oldham's motion to approve the contract with the <br />Sanford Area Growth Alliance as amended, a copy of which is attached to these minutes <br />and by this reference made a part hereof, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Dalrymple, Dodson, Oldham, Reives, Sharpe, Sloan <br />Nay: Knecht <br />The Chair ruled the motion had been adopted upon a vote of 6-1. <br />Upon request to be noted in the record, Commissioner Reives is not opposed to the <br />contract with the Sanford Area Growth Alliance, and continues to support the idea of <br />adding additional seats for the public. <br />Chair Dalrymple called for a recess at 7:08 p.m. <br />Chair Dalrymple resumed the meeting at 7:16 p.m. <br />VII. NEW BUSINESS <br />Write -Off of 10 Year Delinquent Taxes <br />Tax Administrator Mary Yow provided that North Carolina General Statute § 105- <br />378 precludes the Tax Collector from using enforced collection remedies for taxes greater <br />than ten years past due. 2006 taxes became unenforceable for collection on September 1, <br />2016, ten years from the original due date. A report of the uncollected taxes was placed in <br />the Clerk's office for review and posted on the Commissioner's page of the County <br />website. Commissioner Knecht moved to authorize write-off of ten-year delinquent taxes in <br />the amount of $100,732.92.
