Industrial (HI). Ms. McNeill stated that the request to rezone from Light Industrial
to Heavy Industrial has been made due to Heavy Industrial being more
representative of the current land uses and anticipated future land uses. The
names of the businesses involved in the request are Luther Leuth Property
Management, PCC Airfoils, Inc., STI Polymer, Inc., and Noble Oil Services, Inc.
After an explanation of the difference between Light Industrial and Heavy
Industrial uses as they relate to the property involved, Chair Dalrymple opened
the public hearing.
The following spoke in favor of the rezoning request:
- Bob Joyce, Sanford Area Growth Alliance
No one spoke in opposition of the rezoning request.
Chair Dalrymple declared the public hearing closed.
B. Amy McNeill, Zoning Administrator with the Sanford/Lee County Planning
and Development Office next presented a request from Mr. Jim Rosensteel for a
text amendment to the Unified Development Ordinance to add "Urban
Beekeeping" as a permitted use with development standards in the Central
Business District (CBD) zoned areas of Sanford and Broadway on both the
ground level and on roof tops. Ms. McNeill noted that there is no Central
Business District within the jurisdiction of Lee County. The request was
submitted to the Board for consideration since the UDO is a combined zoning
ordinance for Sanford, Lee County, and the Town of Broadway. At this time,
Chair Dalrymple opened the public hearing.
No one spoke in favor or in opposition of the proposed request to add "Urban
Beekeeping" as a permitted use with development standards in the Central
Business District.
Chair Darlymple proceeded to close the public hearing.
C. Marshall Downey, Planning and Community Development Director with the
Sanford/Lee County Planning and Development Office presented a
recommendation from the Lee County Planning Board for an amendment to the
Unified Development Ordinance to divide the membership of the Lee County
Planning Board and the Lee County Board of Adjustments. Mr. Downey stated
that currently members on the Lee County Planning Board serve in two
capacities with their dual role on the Lee County Board of Adjustments. The
Boards were originally merged due to the lack of activity, however because of
the level of recent activity that has occurred along with the anticipated future
activity, the proposed recommendation is meant to alleviate the workload on
these Board members by permitting the option of only serving on either the
Board of Adjustments or the Planning Board. At this time, Chair Dalrymple
opened the public hearing.
Page 3110
