0 Ujox i8 FnpF "M <br />"LET'S TALK" MONTH <br />2000 <br />BY THE LEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />A PROCLAMATION <br />WHEREAS, the Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Coalition of North Carolina <br />believes that parents are the first and foremost sexuality educators of their children and <br />"Let's Talk" Month encourages individuals and communities to celebrate October by <br />promoting special events on family education about sexuality; and <br />WHEREAS, "Let's Talk Month" recognizes the importance ofa strong <br />partnership between the family and community in helping adolescents develop <br />responsible and positive attitudes about their sexuality; and <br />WHEREAS, community agencies and religious organizations are leaders in this <br />effort through the provision of education programs, resources and information to <br />children, as well as, parents; and <br />WHEREAS, clear and accurate information about sexuality prepares today's <br />adolescents for the education of their own children. A sincere, honest and age <br />appropriate approach to sexuality is an appropriate principle that promotes healthy sexual <br />attitudes and behavior. By working together, parents and their communities can provide <br />the information and support necessary to prepare young people for their future endeavors <br />as responsible adults and nurturing parents; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the Lee County Board of Commissioners do hereby <br />proclaim October 2000, as "Let's Talk Month" in Lee County, and commend this <br />observance to our citizens. <br />Adopted thisD day ofd, 2000. <br />e Lee, Clerk <br />Herb Hineks, Chairman / <br />0.16 <br />
