AIN <br />fl oz Y8 e~cF 178 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR THE <br />COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br />SEPTEMBER 20, 2000 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County of Lee, State <br />of North Carolina, convened at 3:00 p.m. in the Commissioners' Room, 106 Hillcrest <br />Drive, Sanford, North Carolina. Commissioners present were W. Chad Adams, F. Hubert <br />Garner, Bertha L. Matthews, Nathan E. Paschal, Robert T. Reives, and John I. Sauls. <br />Commissioner Herbert A. Hincks was absent. <br />Vice-Chairman Paschal presided and the following business was transacted. <br />Commissioner Hubert Garner delivered the invocation. <br />Kenny Cole led the pledge of allegiance. <br />The Board considered additional agenda items. Commissioner Adams asked that <br />the Manager's Report be included with item IV. D under new business. Commissioner <br />Matthews asked that an item concerning Social Services be moved from new business to <br />the consent agenda. County Attorney K. R. Hoyle asked that the Board discuss the hiring <br />of a new Assistant County Attorney. Commissioner Matthews moved to approve the <br />agenda with the above changes. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Garner, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Sauls <br />Nay: None <br />Absent: Hincks <br />The Vice-Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Commissioner Adams moved to approve the consent agenda that consisted of the <br />following items: <br />• Minutes of the August 14, 2000 regular meeting <br />• Minutes of the August 14, 2000 closed session <br />• Tax releases and refunds for July and August 2000 (copies attached) <br />• Proclamation to declare September 17-30, 2000 as Litter Sweep in Lee <br />County (copy attached) <br />X01 <br />
