acct8 a~F c0 <br />Commissioner Garner moved that the Board present retired Judge William <br />Christian with a resolution at the next meeting honoring his dedicated service to Lee <br />County. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Garner, Hineks, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Sauls <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Commissioner Paschal discussed with the Board a recent telephone call he had <br />received from someone on South Plank Road concerning people shooting guns for three <br />hours at a time. County Attorney K. R. Hoyle told the Board that the Hunting Ordinance <br />currently in place is hard to enforce. After some discussion, Commissioner Paschal <br />agreed to talk with Sheriff Billy Bryant about the matter. No action was taken on the <br />matter. <br />The Board considered appointments to the Steering Committee for the Deep River <br />Small Area Plan Committee. Community Development Director Ron Satterfield told the <br />Board that twelve candidates were recommended for this committee. The City of <br />Sanford will be asked to appoint one individual to serve on the committee. After some <br />discussion, Commissioner Reives moved to appoint the following individuals to the Deep <br />River Small Area Plan Committee: <br />Lloyd Atkins <br />Bob Hems <br />Elizabeth Kovasckitz <br />Jamie Teel <br />Ronell Dowdy <br />Hubert Garner <br />Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />David Gladden <br />Mike Ingram <br />Jean Reynolds <br />Barbara Partridge <br />James French <br />Charles Nall <br />Aye: Adams, Garner, Hineks, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Sauls <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Department Heads Warren Lee, Roger Kelley, and Lesa Price gave oral <br />presentations to the Board concerning current activities taking place in their departments. <br />Commissioner Paschal moved to go into closed session to discuss (1) matters <br />relating to the location of an industry in Lee County and, (2) the salary of a proposed new <br />employee at Youth Services.
