(i05 <br />6G0( i„GE 21$ <br />The Board considered an offer to purchase land on Lower River Road that the <br />County acquired due to a tax foreclosure. County Attorney K. R. Hoyle told the Board <br />that he had received an offer of $120.00 to purchase 7.39 acres (two tracts) of land on <br />Lower River Road that the County owns undivided interests in. After some discussion, <br />Commissioner Garner moved to reject the bid and authorize the County Attorney to <br />negotiate a higher beginning offer. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Garner, Hincks, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and SaUIS <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Department Heads Mike Hanes, Debbie Davidson, and John Payne gave oral <br />presentations to the Board concerning current activities in their departments. <br />Commissioner Reives moved for the Parks and Recreation Department to accept <br />bids to clean up the underbrush around the entrance to O. T. Sloan Park. Upon a vote, the <br />results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Garner, Hincks, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and SaUls <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Commissioner Sauls moved to go into closed session to consider the salary of a <br />proposed new employee at the Health Department. Upon a vote, the results were as <br />follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Garner, Hincks, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Sauls <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously and the Board was <br />in closed session. After completing business in closed session, Commissioner Reives <br />moved to go out of closed session. Upon a vote; the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Garner, Hincks, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Sauls <br />Nay: None <br />Tile Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Commissioner Garner moved to increase the salary of Environmental Flealth <br />Specialist Mike Papay from Grade 66 Step 5 (531,592) to Grade 66 Step 9 (534,552) <br />effective October 1, 2000. <br />Commissioner Garner moved to recess the meeting until 7:00 p.m. Upon a vote, <br />the results were as follows: <br />5 <br />
