0 61 003 <br />HUOK i~ P.GE M <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Buck Cox, Chairman of the Lee County Farm Bureau Organization told the Board <br />that his board of directors has approved a donation of $75,000 to name the auditorium at <br />the McSwain Education Center the "Lee County Farm Bureau Auditorium." <br />Commissioner Garner read and presented a resolution of appreciation to retired <br />Judge William A. Christian for his services to Lee County. <br />Emergency Management Director Warren Lee read and presented a resolution of <br />appreciation to Correctional Officer Michael McIntyre from Southern Correctional <br />Institution, North Carolina Department of Correction, located in Troy, North Carolina. <br />The resolution of appreciation was for the recent donation of 1000 blankets, 440 <br />children's sleeping bags, 440 pillows, 500 bed sheets and 100 stuffed animals that were <br />hand made by the inmates in the Blanket Recovery Program. These items will be used in <br />emergency public shelters. <br />The Board considered bids for rehabilitation contracts for the Community <br />Development Block Grant (CDBG) project. Program Administrator Chuck Blackwelder <br />presented bids to the Board for consideration. Commissioner Paschal moved to approve <br />the following bids: <br />Unit # 12 <br />-Everette Tuck <br />Unit # 13 <br />- Nellie Palmer <br />Unit # 14 <br />- Betty Weatherly <br />Unit # 15 <br />- Mildred Coats <br />Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Ivey Construction - $33,965 <br />J R J Repairs - 525,700 <br />J R J Repairs - $27,490 <br />J K J Repairs - 525,570 <br />Aye: Adams, Garner, Hincks, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Sauls <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered a preliminary plat for the proposed relocation of Bruce <br />Coggins Road. Planner Althea Thompson told the Board that Martin Marietta Materials, <br />Inc. has obtained permission from the Department of Transportation to close a portion of <br />Bruce Coggins Road and relocate it, as approved in a Special Use Permit issued by the <br />Lee County Planning Board in June 1999. The purpose of this relocation is for an <br />expansion of the quarry and mining operations (including processing, loading, sales, <br />maintenance, and related activities). The relocated portion of Bruce Co.-gins Road will <br />be built to DOT requirements and dedicated to the State highway system. The water line, <br />which currently runs beside Bruce Coggins Road, will also be relocated to run along the <br />relocated road, in accordance with Lee County requirements. She told the Board that the <br />Planning Board unanimously recommended approval of the preliminary plat for this <br />relocation.
