Chapter 4 <br />Lee County Code <br />Animals <br />Article III. Service Fees and Enforcement. <br />Division 1. Service Fees. <br />Sec. 4-161. <br />thru 4-190. Reserved. <br />Sec. 4-191. Fees and Fines. <br />(a) The following fees and fines shall be set by the Lee County Board of <br />Health and at a minimum be the following amounts: <br />(1) See Appendix A. <br />(b) Any owner may bring an animal to Animal Services to be euthanized. <br />(c) Any owner of thirty (30) or more dogs and/or cats shall have a <br />permit. This permit shall be renewed annually. See Appendix B. <br />Division 2. Enforcement. <br />Sec. 4-194. Enforcement generally. <br />(a) The Lee County Sheriff's Office shall have the authority and <br />responsibility to enforce the provisions of this Chapter and may, by the <br />procedure established herein, initiate all authorized enforcement actions, <br />including the imposition the civil penalties and the issuance of process for <br />civil and criminal violations of the Chapter, in violation of any North <br />Carolina General Statute. <br />(b)The violation of any provisions of this Chapter shall be a misdemeanor and <br />any such violation shall be punishable as provided in N.C.G.S. § 14-4. In <br />addition to, and not in lieu of, the criminal penalties and other sanctions <br />provided in this Chapter, a violation of this Chapter may also subject the <br />offender to the civil penalties hereinafter set forth. <br />(c)In addition, enforcement of this Chapter may be by appropriate equitable remedy, <br />injunction or order of abatement issuing from a court of competent jurisdiction <br />pursuant to N.C.G.S. § 153A-123. <br />(d)Violations of rabies vaccinations will be governed by Chapter 130A of the North <br />Carolina General Statutes. <br />Sec. 4-195. Penalties. <br />(a)Any person violating this Chapter shall be subject to a civil penalty as set <br />forth in the Lee County Budget Ordinance, Fee Schedule Appendix A, for the <br />current fiscal year. Such penalty shall be paid within seventy-two (72) hours <br />from the issuance of the notice. Each day's violation of this Chapter shall be <br />a separate offense. <br />(b)The civil penalty for any offense in violation of this Chapter is set forth <br />17 <br />
